Dec 2020 Kapil’s parents made the decision that they would live separately from Kapil and Camila. They entered into a sale agreement for a property in Pickering and purchased a smaller home in Woodbridge. The closing of the Pickering Property was set for December 2020. However, on the eve of the closing, Camila, who was eight months pregnant with their son Valentino at the time, informed Kapil that she had registered a matrimonial home designation on the Pickering Property. She made it clear that she would not consent to the closing of the sale unless Kapil paid her $100,000.
Under immense pressure and with a baby on the way, Kapil and his parents had no choice but to agree to her demand. The $100,000 Camila demanded was far more than Kapil’s 5% share. His parents owned 95% as set out in a trust agreement from 2.5years earlier much before Kapil even knew Camila. To meet her demand, Kapil was forced to borrow money from his parents. Kapil found himself paying an unjust amount due to Camila’s manipulation.
When the sale of the Pickering Property finally closed, Kapil’s parents purchased an investment property in Woodbridge—60 Rota Crescent (the “Woodbridge Property”). They allowed Kapil and Camila to move into the property, with Kapil continuing to live there. Camila’s actions raise serious questions about her motivations. Her demand for an inflated amount just before the birth of their child, coupled with her manipulation of the situation, suggests a pattern of self-serving and questionable behavior.
